Second day of AT&T wireless outages hit Chattanooga

AT&T wireless customers in Chattanooga, Knoxville and East Tennessee lost the ability to make and receive calls for the second day in a row during a three-hour outage this morning.

Service was restored just after noon.

The interruption again affected customers throughout the Tri-Cities region, though it was shorter than the roughly five-hour outage on Thursday that dragged on toward 2 p.m. before it was resolved.

AT&T's Cathy Lewandowski said she believes the cause of today's outage was related to the service interruption the previous day, though she declined to name the cause.

Lewandowski would say that consumers on the AT&T network experienced "service interruptions while placing and receiving calls."

"AT&T wireless service is now fully restored for customers in the Knoxville, Chattanooga, Tri-Cities and East Tennessee markets," Lewandowski said today. "We apologize for any inconvenience as a result of the service interruption earlier today."
