Wife's throat slashed, husband leaps from East Ridge window

East Ridge police said a man having an argument with his wife is accused of slashing her neck before throwing himself out of his apartment window early this morning.

Cabryant McClendon, 29, has been charged with attempted murder, East Ridge police spokesman Erik Hopkins said in a news release.

His wife, whose name was not released, is in critical condition at Erlanger hospital, Hopkins said.

Police were called to Thrippence Apartments on Fountain Avenue at 2:38 a.m., where they saw the woman lying on the ground in a breezeway with a large cut on the left side of her neck.

She could not speak to officers, but several people who were trying to help her told police her husband was in the apartment, Hopkins said. Witnesses told police the couple had been arguing.

When police went in, they saw that McClendon, who uses a wheelchair, had thrown himself from the second-floor window. He was taken into custody, treated and released at Erlanger and lodged in the Hamilton County Jail, Hopkins said.
