Detectives investigate toddler's death in Rome, Ga.

Detectives are investigating the death of a 2-year-old child who was pulled from a pool and died two days later.

The toddler was taken to Floyd Medical Center in Rome, Ga., last Wednesday with injuries from nearly drowning at a private residence in the Plainville community, a news release stated.

After the toddler was transported to Scottish Rite Children's Hospital in Atlanta, he died from his injuries Friday afternoon, the report said.

Gordon County sheriff's detectives are now waiting on the autopsy results from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab to determine if anyone should be charged, said Chief Deputy Robert Paris.

Paris declined to say who had brought the child to the hospital and where the accident took place.
