Chattanooga State, Tennessee Tech to offer bachelor's degree at VW Academy

Volkswagen today agreed to partner with Chattanooga State Community College and Tennessee Tech University to create a new 4-year degree program.

Officials for the auto maker and the two schools unveiled an initiative that will offer students starting this fall a chance to earn a 2-year degree at Chattanooga State and then follow that up with a bachelor's degree in industrial technology from Tennessee Tech. The classes will be offered entirely at the Volkswagen Academy, which is where the auto maker does the training for its plant employees.

Hans-Herbert Jagla, executive vice president of human resources for Volkswagen in Chattanooga, said the new training program is "a milestone to help ensure the future of our region and Volkswagen."

The new program will start this fall with 20 students.
