Jewelry sales to fund Apison relief

Independent Silpada Designs representative Sherrie Forrest is hosting a "party with a purpose" where 90 percent of each jewelry sale up to $4,500 will go directly to Apison families affected by the recent tornadoes.

The party will be at the Hampton Creek Champions Club on 7502 Snow Hill Road Sunday, June 12, from 2 to 5 p.m. During this time, the Champions Club will be open to anyone attending the party and offering food service and a cash bar.

All donations will go directly to Allison Deckman with the Apison Volunteer Network and JoJo Macatiag with the Apison Pike Open House.

Forrest has secured an anonymous local corporate sponsor willing to double her 30 percent commission up to $1,500. Forrest said after the $3,000 cap on the corporate sponsor has been met, she will continue to donate her 30 percent commission.

"I want their match," said Forrest. "They write it off so it's not going to hurt them. It could do so much good."

According to Forrest, helping with cleanup in Apison is what inspired her to use her business as a way to help the community.

"The first weekend we went was Mother's Day and I was looking around like, 'What can I do to help these people,'" said Forrest.

Online ordering is currently available through June 14, Forrest said. To order online visit Silpada.com and scroll to the bottom ,where there is a link to "Locate a representative." After being redirected through email to her website, customers can select "tornado relief" as the hostess during the check-out process for their purchase to count as a donation.
