A UTC student unexpectedly died from medical conditions while visiting Athens, Greece, on a university trip, according to a university email sent throughout the campus.
Brooke Winslett was part of a group of students visiting Italy and Greece when she died, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga said.
Athens authorities are conducting an autopsy to determine a cause of death, the email said.
Winslett's mother is traveling to Greece to aid authorities.
Students held a memorial service at the beach in Glyfada, Greece, and lit candles remembering Winslett, according to the email.
The university's counseling office is offering counseling to students who need to talk to someone about Winslett's loss. A memorial service date has not been set yet.
