Virginia trial of former priest rescheduled

GATE CITY, Va.- Trial of a former Catholic priest accused of molesting a boy has been postponed in Virginia.

The attorney for 76-year-old William Casey requested the delay on Monday in Scott County Circuit Court, noting the trial had been scheduled for July 11, during the same week Casey is scheduled for trial on similar charges in Sullivan County, Tenn. The Virginia trial was rescheduled to begin Sept. 27, according to the Kingsport Times-News.

Casey remains under electronic monitoring at his home in Greeneville, Tenn.

Warren Tucker of Jeffersonville, Ind., - who has gone public with his claims - has accused Casey of repeated rape beginning when Tucker was 10. Tucker says the abuse occurred in the 1970s while Casey served as priest at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Kingsport.
