Dr. Norman Neal is charged with 10 counts of illegal issuance of prescription medications.

A Cleveland doctor was arrested this morning and charged with multiple counts of prescribing hydrocodone illegally, authorities said.

Dr. Norman Neal, of 2513 Old Chattanooga Pike, S.W., was arrested at the Doctors Health Center in North Georgia after police searched the building, Catoosa County Sheriff Phil Summers said in a news release.

Neal was charged with 10 counts involving the illegal issuance of pain prescription medications, Summers said. The clinic, located at 4213 Cloud Springs Road, will remain closed until the outcome of the investigation, according to the news release.

The two-month long investigation was the result of complaints received by law enforcement about prescriptions for hydrocodone being given to multiple individuals, the release stated.

Summers said additional charges related to the ongoing investigation are expected to be filed against Dr. Neal.
