Frost advisory in effect for North Georgia

New buds could get bitten by a cold snap early Monday morning as North Georgia anticipates its first frost in several weeks, according to the National Weather Service.

Frost could develop as temperatures fall into the lower to mid-30s from about 4 a.m. to 9 a.m., according to Robert Garcia, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, Ga.

"Clearing skies will remove any insulation we had from the cloud cover, so it'll be like losing a blanket. If light winds bring the temperatures down, that'll usher frost in," Garcia said.

Gardeners who have any plants that are delicate and could be injured by the cold they should take measures to protect them.
