Volkswagen has passed the 1,500 employee mark at its Chattanooga plant, an official said today.
VW plans to hire and train between 2,000 and 2,500 people at the Chattanooga factory where production is to start within a few weeks building the all-new 2012 Passat.
Hiring will continue through 2011 as the plant reaches full production.
"It is an exciting milestone to have hired our 1,500th team member here at Volkswagen Chattanooga, but we still have long way to go, and there is still a lot of opportunity for those who want to join our team," said Hans-Herbert Jagla, executive vice president of human resources for VW in Chattanooga.
