Chattanooga: Murphy Oil on Lee Highway robbed this morning

The Murphy Oil convenience store on Lee Highway was robbed this morning, Chattanooga police say.

No one was injured in the incident, said police spokeswoman Sgt. Jerri Weary.

The call came in about 8 a.m., and police were told that two males entered the store at 6398 Lee Highway, acting as if they were going to buy coffee, Weary said. After a few minutes, one of the suspects went behind the store counter and told the clerk to give up the money, she said. The man took an undisclosed amount of money and ran from the store in an unknown direction, Weary said.

The second suspect then approached the counter with a gun, pointed it at the clerk and demanded the rest of the money, Weary said. He also ran from the store in an unknown direction, she said.

The first suspect is described as dark-skinned black male, 5 foot 8, 150 pounds and wearing all black. The second suspect is described as medium skin-toned black male, 5 foot 9, 140 pounds and wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with a blue ball cap, blue jeans and red shoes.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call the Chattanooga Police Department at 423-698-2525.
