A man was taken into custody on outstanding aggravated assault warrants after a three-hour standoff with SWAT officers Tuesday around noon.
When John Shipley, 60, was approached by police at a 2616 East 18th St. residence around 11:30 a.m., he fled into the home and barricaded himself from police. Surrender negotiations failed, but by 3 p.m. officers had entered the residence and arrested Shipley without incident.
