East Ridge: Car hits bondsman, man charged

A man was charged with felony reckless endangerment and evading arrest after a bail bondsman told police the man hit him with a car, injuring his leg Tuesday afternoon.

According to an East Ridge Police news release, John S. Dykes tried to flee the Crown Inn on Ringgold Road when Dave Coburn, an employee of Huckabee Bonding, tried to serve him several warrants including two counts of failure to appear and one count of theft. Coburn told police Dykes hit him with his car, causing Coburn to fire a shot at the vehicle.

Officers found Dykes' vehicle behind the Ringgold Road Family Dollar and, after a brief foot chase, detained Dykes.

The investigation is ongoing and further charges are pending. Dykes is scheduled to appear in East Ridge Municipal Court on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
