Hamilton County Board of Education is considering East Side rezoning

Hamilton County Board of Education members are considering a rezoning plan that would move students from an overcrowded East Side Elementary School to Orchard Knob Elementary School.

School system officials are also looking at overcrowding at East Hamilton School, and those plans could include rezoning some students to Ooltewah High School and Ooltewah Middle School, according to Deputy Superintendent of Administrative Services Rick Smith.

Students already attending East Side Elementary would be allowed to stay, but new students would be required to attend Orchard Knob. The school board is expected to consider the rezoning plan next month, according to Smith.
