Radio veteran Keith Landecker will represent Chattanooga in Washington, D.C., at the national Jefferson Awards banquet.

He was chosen today as the overall Chattanooga winner for 2011 at a banquet to honor the 12 local Jefferson Awards recipients.

Landecker, who is the afternoon voice of WJTTPower 94 radio, was honored for his work as founder and coach of an inner-city baseball league and the Tennessee Express baseball team.

Landecker praised the kids he coaches and also his fellow Jefferson Award winners.

"I am humbled by your presence because you guys inspire me," Landecker told the other 11 award recipients.

The award locally is sponsored by the Chattanooga Times Free Press, WRCB-TV and First Tennessee Bank.

Since 1972, the Jefferson Awards have been presented on the local and national levels. Each year a national winner is selected in four categories: elected or public officials, private citizens, people benefiting the disadvantaged and individuals 35 or younger.
