Task force: Board will direct merger of Cleveland, Bradley County fire departments and EMS

CLEVELAND, Tenn. - A task force has agreed on the composition of a board that would direct a merger of the Cleveland Fire Department, Bradley County Fire and Rescue and Bradley County Emergency Medical Service.

The seven-member board would include three each from the county commission and the Cleveland City Council and one from the Charleston City Commission.

The group also agreed that an arson task force should be created involving the fire departments, law enforcement and the district attorney general's office, all from existing personnel.

The merger task force's next challenge will be funding the proposed merged department, said Chairman Julian Sullivan.
