Canadian murder suspect arrested in Dalton

An international search for a Canadian man accused of murder ended without incident Tuesday at a Dalton hotel.

Todd Howley, 48, of Bracebridge, Ontario, was arrested in the parking lot of a hotel by officers and agents from the FBI, Dalton Police, Calhoun Police and the Whitfield County Sheriff's Office, according to a press release from the FBI office in Atlanta.

Howley was wanted by the Ontario Provincial Police for first-degree murder, according to the release. A federal warrant for his arrest had been issued in Cleveland, Ohio, before authorities tracked him down in Dalton.

Howley was scheduled to appear before a U.S. Magistrate Judge in Rome, Ga., for his initial appearance today.
