Dalton police find stolen car wrecked

Dalton, Ga., police are investigating who stole a car last week and left it wrecked in Walker County.

The owner of a four-door 2009 Nissan Sentra told police his car was stolen when he went into Favorite Market to buy a drink on May 3, Dalton Police Department spokesman Bruce Frazier said.

The owner told officers he had a bad habit of leaving his keys inside his car when he was only planning to be gone for a short time, Frazier said.

State troopers found the car about 100 feet down an embankment just across the Walker County line the next day, Frazier said. The car appeared to have been rolled off the embankment.

The car was damaged and the radiator missing, he said.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call Detective Ricky Long with the Dalton Police Department at 706-278-9085, extension 168.
