East Ridge man faces attempted murder charge

An East Ridge man was faces four charges, including attempted murder, after his girlfriend told police he fired eight to 10 shots as she ran away from him Monday night, according to East Ridge Police.

Daniel Jett, 21, who has multiple felony convictions in Georgia, was also charged with domestic vandalism, tampering with evidence and felon in possession of a firearm.

Jett had been arguing with his girlfriend and told her to leave the house they were in. As the girlfriend tried to gather personal items to leave, Jett grabbed her and asked, "Ya'll want to see how crazy I can get?" according to the girlfriend.

Jett's mother told the girlfriend to run. As she headed towards a wooded area she heard the shots.

When police arrived, they found Jett had hit his girlfriend's vehicle multiple times with a baseball bat and her cell phone was broken, according to police. As they searched the home, they found a .22 caliber handgun and two spent casings.

Jett is being held on $175,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in East Ridge Municipal Court today at 5 p.m.
