Russell's homers pace 9-3 Lookouts victory

ZEBULON, N.C. - Kyle Russell hit two home runs and two doubles as Chattanooga defeated the Carolina Mudcats 9-3 in Southern League baseball Monday night.

Russell's solo homer to left field in the fourth inning put the Lookouts (22-22) up 3-2, and his two-run homer to center in the sixth made it 5-2. Each came against Carolina starting pitcher and former Lookouts starter James Avery.

Chattanooga took a 2-0 lead in the second inning on Wilberto Ortiz's RBI double to left and Matt Wallach's single to right.

Each team has won two games in the series going into the finale tonight at 7:15. Chris Withrow (0-4, 5.23 ERA) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Lookouts, with Brandon Hynick (0-0, 0.00) scheduled for the Mudcats
