Woman, rescuer injured in East Ridge fire

An East Ridge woman and one would-be rescuer were hospitalized after a fire trapped the woman in her Superior Creek Lodge room early Saturday morning.

Neither's injuries appeared life-threatening, according to East Ridge Public Safety spokesman Erik Hopkins. The woman was the only person in the room around 1:25 a.m. when the fire caught, but according to neighbors four others lived in the space, including a young child.

Fire officials kept the blaze to the room but are still investigating the fire's cause.
