Plane with 4 aboard sought in north Georgia

ELLIJAY, Ga. - A Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman says authorities in north Georgia are looking for a missing plane with four people on board.

FAA spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen says the plane, a Beechcraft Bonanza, was reported missing late Monday.

Maj. Paige Joyner, a spokeswoman for the Georgia Wing of the Civil Air Patrol, said Tuesday a search from the air and on the ground was getting underway.

She says the plane departed the Ellijay airport for a sightseeing trip within a 50-mile radius of the airport.

Bergen says the family of some of those on board called the airport when the plane didn't return as expected.

Bergen says the flight had no contact with air traffic controllers.
