Chattanooga: 10-year-old boy shot while he and brother, 7, play with gun

Chattanooga police are investigating a shooting involving two young brothers, ages 7 and 10.

The incident happened about 6:40 p.m. at 5949 Winding Lane in Hixson, said police spokeswoman Sgt. Jerri Weary. According to the boys' father, the brothers were playing outside when they apparently climbed through the window of the family RV and located the gun in a closed cabinet.

The boys began playing with the gun in the front yard and, at some point, the gun went off and struck the 10-year-old in the arm, Weary said.

The injury was non-life threatening injury and the boy is expected to be treated and released from Memorial North Park Hospital, she said.

There are no charges pending at this time, she said.
