2 arrested in counterfeit checks scheme in Calhoun, Ga.

Calhoun, Ga., police arrested two men believed to have passed $5,000 worth of counterfeit checks around town.

Diamond McDonald, of Jonesboro, Ga., and Ausha Brown, of Atlanta, are also believed to be part of a larger group that travels the state passing counterfeit checks to buy merchandise, said Police Chief Garry Moss in a news release.

On Nov. 18, police were contacted about the thefts and later police pinned McDonald and Brown to the crimes, Moss said.

McDonald faces charges of printing counterfeit checks and forgery in the first degree, while Brown faces charges of printing counterfeit checks and party to a crime, Moss said.
