Tennessee pastor charged in church member's burglary

SMYRNA, Tenn. - Police in Smyrna are asking members of 1st Free Methodist Church to come forward with information on possible burglaries after their pastor was charged with burglarizing the home of a church member.

Smyrna police said 55-year-old Rickey Alan Reed was caught on video attempting to break into the home of one of his church members in July. The victim had noticed that medications were missing from the home and set up a video camera outside to catch the suspect.

Police said in a news release Monday that Reed turned himself in last month and was charged with aggravated burglary, but investigators believe Reed may have burglarized the homes of other church members who are hesitant to report the crimes to police.

Reed has been released on bond.
