Probe clears Dade County bus driver

An investigation of a Dade County, Ga., school bus driver has cleared him of a parent's accusation of misconduct.

School Superintendent Shawn Tobin said he reviewed hour's worth of videos from the bus of Nathan Stone, who one parent accused of mistreating her children.

The video that Tobin reviewed included visual, audio and information on the speed of the bus. Stone was suspended with pay during the investigation but will now return to work.

"The accusation the parent made was not true," Tobin said. "The bus driver will be returned to duty on Monday."

After researching Stone, the parent found out he had previously been convicted of felony possession of marijuana and methamphetamine.

Tobin said that didn't preclude him from employment. The district's policy doesn't allow employment if an individual has been convicted of a felony within five years, he said. Stone's conviction occurred several years before the five-year cutoff, Tobin said.
