A divided Hamilton County Commission voted 5-4 to green light to an ethanol transfer facility in the Bonny Oaks Industrial and Office Park.

The project, which would pump ethanol from rail cars through a pipeline to the fuel distribution centers on Jersey Pike, raised many questions last week from commissioners. Many asked whether the project would violate property rules governing the park, created by the county in the 1980s.

Commission Vice Chairman Fred Skillern likened the project to a warehouse rather than a manufacturing facility.

"A warehouse is storage, this is storage," he said. "The purpose of this is non-manufacturing."

Commissioners Skillern, Joe Graham, Jim Fields, Warren Mackey and Mitch McClure voted for the project. Commissioners Chester Bankston, Larry Henry, Greg Beck and Tim Boyd against it.
