TeamHealth to build $18 million facility, add 550 jobs in East Tennessee

A health care company plans to build a new facility and create up to 550 jobs in East Tennessee, officials said today.

TeamHealth plans the construction of an $18 million facility in Alcoa, Tenn., outside Knoxville, said Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam.

The company will initially create 160 full-time jobs, with the anticipation of growing to 550 slots in management, accounting, medical coding, billing and clerical, officials said.

The company was founded in 1979 and is headquartered in Knoxville. TeamHealth's more than 6,600 affiliated health care professionals provide emergency medicine, anesthesiology, hospital medicine, and pediatric staffing and management services to more than 700 civilian and military hospitals, clinics and physician groups in 45 states.
