Two men were assaulted and one shot during an early morning robbery Sunday at 600 W. 13th St. Court, Chattanooga police said.

Pius Mutubwa told police he was taking his friend Agustin Kagoma home about 3:30 a.m. when two black men came up to their vehicle and demanded money. He said one man struck him in the face with a gun.

As the gunman began searching Mutubwa's pockets, Kagoma tried to run. The gunman fired a shot and struck him in the upper right arm, police said. Kagoma ran to a nearby friend's house where he asked for a ride to the hospital.

Police said the robbers took Mutubwa's car keys and wallet and fled.

The victims described the suspects as likely under age 20. One was described as 5 feet, 9 inches and heavyset and the other 6 feet, with a thin build.

Kagoma was treated at a hospital but Mutubwa refused treated for minor facial injuries, police said.
