Lauren Marie Fraley, 23, was arrested by the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office after she was found in possession of half a gram of methamphetamine.

A woman four months pregnant has been arrested by the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office after she was found in possession of half a gram of methamphetamine, officials say.

On Sept. 13, Sheriff Jimmy Harris received information that Lauren Marie Fraley, 23, of Ider, Ala., was involved in illegal drug activity at her residence on Alabama Highway 75.

Harris also found that Fraley was supposed to turn herself in Sept. 14 to Autauga County for sentencing on a charge of unlawful distribution of controlled substance.

Harris and a drug task force agent went to Fraley's residence and obtained consent to search her home. Inside, they found the meth and other drug paraphernalia, according to sheriff's spokeswoman Stanna Guice.

Because Fraley was in possession of illegal drugs while pregnant, the county's department of human resources will investigate further on the safety of the unborn child, Guice said.

She remains in DeKalb County Jail on a $9,000 bond. Once she posts bond, she will be transported to Autauga County for sentencing on their charges, Guice said.
