A Chattanooga man faces kidnapping and assault charges after police say he jumped on the hood of his girlfriend's car to try to keep her from escaping him.
Red Bank Police pulled over a white SUV in the 1900 block of Dayton Boulevard early Sunday morning after spotting a man riding on the hood of the car.
The woman driving the car told police she was trying to escape her boyfriend, Nicholas Allen Fay, 25, who she said tried to hold her captive in a home, according to Chattanooga Police spokesman Officer Wayne Jefferson.
The woman said she and Fay had an argument, during which took her cell phone and he physically held her down so she could not leave the home, Jefferson said.
At some point in the night the woman was able to free herself from Fay and run to the car, she told police. Fay then jumped on the hood of the SUV, clinging to the vehicle as the woman drove down Dayton Boulevard, said Jefferson.
Fay has since been charged with kidnapping, domestic assault and public intoxication.
He is currently out of a jail on a $2,500 bond.
Fay's next court appearance is scheduled before General Sessions Judge Ronald Durby on May 31.
