A 38-year-old man is in stable condition at Erlanger hospital after he was shot three times, including once in the head, said Chattanooga police.

The shooting was the result of an argument between two men in cars at the intersection of Union Avenue and South Kelly Street in Ridgedale, said police Officer Nathan Hartwig. A 31-year-old man in a Chevy Impala opened fire on another man in a Chevy Malibu, he said.

The wounded man was able to drive back to a residence he just left at 2012 Duncan Avenue in Highland Park, where a woman called for an ambulance.

Police have a suspect in custody. No names have been officially released. The shooting remains under investigation.

This is the third shooting in three days.
