Burglar ties up, robs victim in Chattanooga

Police are looking for a man accused of tying up a Chattanoogan with packaging tape at gun point, reports officer Wayne Jefferson.

The burglar knocked on the front door of a home at 722 Mount Vernon Ave. on Friday around 11:45 a.m., Jefferson said. When resident Casey Smith opened, the suspect showed him a handgun and ordered him into the house, where he bound Smith with packaging tape.

However, Smith freed himself and escaped the home, at which point the suspect fled in a silver car.

The only missing item was a wallet.

Police are still looking for the burglar, described as a black male in his mid- to late 20 standing 5 feet 10 inches with short curly hair, a mustache and goatee.
