Charles "Chuck" Colson, who became a noted evangelist after serving a prison sentence in the Watergate scandal, has died, according to national media reports.

He was 80 and had suffered a brain hemorrhage in late March, according to CNN.

Colson was the first Nixon aide to be convicted of Watergate-related charges in the 1972 scandal. After prison, he founded Prison Fellowship, which calls itself "the world's largest outreach to prisoners, ex-prisoners and their families," CNN reports.
