MADISON, Ala. - Tennessee Valley Authority police credit the corporation's surveillance system for thwarting a burglary at its electrical substation in Limestone County.

TVA said in a statement that a suspect was taken into custody and is accused of trying to steal materials and equipment during the Friday break-in. Police said the 25-year-old Alabama man faces charges of criminal trespass, criminal mischief and felony possession of burglary tools.

TVA police say they were alerted to the incident by the security system at the substation and responded to the scene with officers from Limestone County and the city of Madison.

David Jolley, TVA's vice president for security and emergency management, said the quick response from law enforcement prevented anything from being stolen or any damage to vehicles or buildings at the site.
