72 marijuana plants found near DeKalb County, Ala., home

A ground and air search revealed over 70 marijuana plants growing near a home in DeKalb County, Ala., Thursday.

Johnny Ray Wright, 55, and Linda R. Gibbs, 63, were arrested and charged with trafficking in cannabis and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a news release from the DeKalb County Sheriff's Department.

The DeKalb County Drug Task Force found 72 plants - valued at about $144,000 street value - outside of the home, and two pounds of marijuana and five firearms inside the home, according to the release. Several pounds of the marijuana were taken to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science for testing.

Wright and Gibbs were taken to the DeKalb County Detention Center.
