Chattanooga police continue to investigate the scene at 1332 Florida St. in Brainerd where a man was shot and killed by police officers responding to an early-morning home invasion report.Chattanooga police arrested a third man in connection with a home invasion in Brainerd that left one suspect dead.
Emory Jackson, 32, faces a charge of facilitation of a felony after police said he dropped off Ronald Lovell Wright, 31, at the Sports Barn on Lee Highway and told him there was a safe and marijuana inside a home within a couple of blocks.
"Mr. Jackson knew that Mr. Wright was going to 'hit a lick,' also known as a robbery or burglary, and did nothing to stop it," an affidavit of complaint states.
Just after midnight Tuesday, Wright was shot and killed when he pointed a rifle at police as he was going out a rear window at the home at 1332 Florida St.
Wright and 19-year-old Kevin Williams went to the residence to rob the occupants, according to police. A neighbor called 911 when she saw two men kick in the front door at the home.
Williams told police he was armed with a shotgun when he went to the residence, where he held up five people while Wright took items, an affidavit states. Williams was charged with three counts of aggravated robbery and two counts of attempted aggravated robbery.
Inside Wright's pocket, staff at the Hamilton County Medical Examiner's office found a cellphone that belonged to Adam Vogelmeier, one of the home's residents, as well as pill bottles belonging to homeowner Logan Naff, court documents said.
Police executed a federal search warrant at the residence and charged Vogelmeier with possession of oxycontin for resale, possession of marijuana for resale, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
Inside a safe, police located $6,892 in cash, jars of marijuana and 369 dosage units of controlled substances including morphine, hydrocodone and other drugs, according to an affidavit. Small bags, a drug ledger, pills in unmarked bottles, and six guns along with ammunition also were located in the home, the document said.
Vogelmeier posted a $30,000 bond and will appear before Hamilton County General Sessions Court Judge Gary Starnes on Sept. 10.
Jackson remains in custody on a $10,000 bond. Williams remains in custody on a $80,000 bond. Both have court dates set for Tuesday before Hamilton County General Sessions Court Judge David Bales.
