Chattanoogan shot at campsite

CLEVELAND, Tenn. - The woman shot at the KOA Campground in Bradley County on Sunday night has been identified as Della Marie Floyd, of Chattanooga.

Floyd was shot in the chest after she and Charles Drew Warren, 44, struggled over a handgun during an argument, according to a news release.

Warren has been charged with aggravated assault and aggravated domestic assault. He is scheduled to appear in court Thursday.

Floyd was released from the hospital Monday.


Bean Station chief resigns

MORRISTOWN, Tenn. - The city police chief in Bean Station, Tenn., has resigned after his adult son was charged with impersonating a police officer.

According to the Citizen Tribune in Morristown, Phillip Robinette turned in his resignation on Saturday. A day earlier, a Hawkins County sheriff's deputy stopped 21-year-old Nathaniel Ryan Robinette during an investigation into someone in a yellow Chevrolet Cobalt conducting traffic stops.

Sheriff Ronnie Lawson said deputies found two Bean Station sergeant's badges, two city police uniform patches and a loaded Colt M-16 rifle in the younger Robinette's car. Nathaniel Robinette was charged with impersonating a police officer, false imprisonment and possession of a prohibited weapon. He was released on $10,000 bond.


Driver who hit go-kart sought

KNOXVILLE - Knox County authorities say a car struck a go-kart, injuring two children, and then sped away.

Sheriff's deputies are seeking a black car that likely has a broken driver's side headlight after the collision Sunday night. According to The Knoxville News Sentinel, a boy and a girl who were riding in the go-kart were taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. Deputies said the girl was not wearing a helmet.

The car being sought is believed to be a Nissan Sentra and the driver is male.


Council rescinds alcohol ban

TYBEE ISLAND, Ga. - The city council on Tybee Island has repealed a ban on drinking alcohol on the beach, though they say the ban was rarely enforced.

The Savannah Morning News reports that Tybee Island's council last week repealed the ban with a 4-2 vote.

An amended ordinance also officially legalizes drinking on public streets, parking lots and sidewalks, which has also been historically permitted. City Manager Diane Schleicher says the beverage has to be in a plastic cup.
