Man charged after stabbing

A 25-year-old man faces charges of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of theft over $500 and felony operation of a motor vehicle after he reportedly stabbed another man in the neck before driving off in his car.

Jonathan Flerl reportedly began an argument with Wallace Brown and Sandy Brown who were with their two children just before 2 a.m. Monday at 6015 Mill Road in Hixson. When Wallace Brown exited the vehicle to confront Flerl, he was stabbed repeatedly in the neck, according to a Chattanooga police report.

Everyone was out of the car when Flerl jumped in the car and drove away, the report states. Sandy Brown's belongings including her cellphone, wallet and credit cards were inside.

Flerl's bond was set at $165,000. His next court date is set for May 16 in Hamilton County General Sessions Court.
