Two families displaced by fire

Two families will spend Christmas without a home following a Saturday morning fire, according to the Chattanooga Fire Department.

Neighbors noticed smoke coming from a second-story unit at 1209 Grove St. about 7:30 a.m., according to a news release. All of the residents made it out of the apartment safely.

A family of four and a mother and daughter lived in the upper and lower apartments, respectively. The American Red Cross is assisting the families.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
