A 16-year-old Red Panda died at the Chattanooga Zoo over the weekend, officials with the Warner Park facility announced this morning.

Life expectancy of the panda is eight to 10 years.

"The extended life of this particular animal points to the excellent care given to him by his keepers," the news release stated.

Zoo officials announced last week that another Red Panda, Bella, had died after fighting a skin infection for more than a year. She was 11.

At that time, zoo officials also said 16-year-old Butch was suffering from excess fluids around his lungs.
