A 16-year-old was charged in a shooting Saturday night that police believe to be gang-related.
Ronald Spence, 19, told police he was shot by an acquaintance around 11:30 p.m., Chattanooga police spokeswoman Sgt. Jerri Weary said.
Spence told police he was walking near Camden Street and Dodson Avenue when the shooter called out to him. While Spence was taking off his headphones, the assailant opened fire, Weary said.
Spence was hit in the left shoulder as he was running away. He was treated and released at a local hospital, Weary said.
Officers caught the 16-year-old within a few minutes, in an abandoned house at 2009 Camden St. The youth was charged with attempted first-degree murder and aggravated assault, Weary said.
