Former University of Tennessee at Chattanooga quarterback B.J. Coleman completed 10 of 15 passes for 168 yards and a touchdown today in the East-West Shrine Game in St. Petersburg, Fla. The West won 24-17.

Coleman started for the East and went 6-for-6 for 135 yards and a touchdown in the first quarter. His first completion went to another Chattanoogan, former Tennessee Tech wide receiver Tim Benford.

The duo connected again on the East squad's opening drive, for a 27-yard completion.

On the second drive, Coleman hit former Miami tight end Chase Ford for a 64-yard gain that set up Coleman's 17-yard touchdown pass to B.J. Cunningham of Michigan State.

Coleman sat out the second and third quarters before returning in the fourth. On the game's final drive, with the East in need of a touchdown, he went 3 of 5 for 37 yards as the East tried to drive for a touchdown.

Benford's only catches were the two first-quarter grabs for a combined 36 yards.

Former Tennessee running back Tauren Poole finished with six carries for 19 yards and a 14-yard reception.
