Crest Center Jewels for Tools fundraiser Jan. 29

The Jan. 29 Share Your Love with Silpada Jewels for Kitchen Tools fundraiser will offer a shopping experience for sweethearts while helping raise funds for the Crest Center's new kitchen.

"Show your love to your Valentine and your community at the same time by purchasing jewelry," said kitchen coordinator Megan Eades.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Silpada Designs consultants Jana Bruce and Nancy Berg will help customers select artistically handcrafted sterling silver jewelry to give to their sweetheart for Valentine's Day. They are giving 100 percent of the profits to Signal Crest United Methodist Church to purchase equipment, appliances and supplies for the new Crest Center commercial kitchen.

"One thing about the church deciding to do the new addition was to be a viable conduit to reach the community," said Bruce, who aside from jewelry consulting also conducts two Signal Crest children's choirs. "The kitchen services the church and community with weekly dinners and provides a place for special functions."

"Our kitchen needs new updated equipment," said Crest Center kitchen assistant Annette Wildman. "We don't use paper products anymore. We are going green in the kitchen."

Eades said the kitchen needs a washer and dryer, food processor, stand mixer and a variety of other utensils. The kitchen currently has a double and single refrigerator, a double freezer, a double convection over, a warmer cabinet, a gas range stove and griddle, two stainless steel tables and a commercial-grade dish washing system.

Kitchen staff serves meals weekly on Wednesday nights. In addition, the Crest Center kitchen has served local firefighters through a community-wide picnic, students at Fifth Quarter football parties, has hosted a community block party and will host a wedding in the near future.

"It's a win-win situation," said Wildman of the fundraiser. "We win by getting money for our kitchen appliances, the community wins because they get a place for their weddings, and the Silpada consultants win because they can expand their business. It's beautiful sterling silver jewelry with a wide price range."

Bruce and Berg will wrap gifts for customers that day.

Online orders as part of the fundraising effort are also being accepted through Feb. 4. To order from Bruce, visit mysilpada.com/jana.bruce. To order from Berg, visit mysilpada.com/nancy.berg.
