One firefighter was injured today while fighting a large house fire at 705 Creek Dr.
When firefighters responded to the 9 a.m. alarm, Cpt. Craig Haney said he could see smoke from Mountain Creek Road while responding from Station 17 on Signal Mountain Boulevard. Five companies responded to the fire.
Smoke and fire were visible from the attic when crews arrived, but an interior attack helped contain the blaze to the attic.
While charging a hoseline with water, the high water pressure made a hose coupling spring up in the air, striking Senior Firefighter Traci Dossett above her left eye. Dossett was transported to Erlanger hospital, where she was treated with stitches.
Chattanooga Fire Department Spokesman Bruce Garner said two adults, two teenagers and a dog lived in the large, two-story house. All escaped without injury.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
