Middle Tennessee drought condition worsens to 'severe'

Middle Tennessee's drought has gotten worse, according to a report released this morning by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

The latest report upgrades the entire region from "moderate" to "severe" drought as any meaningful precipitation continues to evade the area. Already 28 Tennessee counties are under a burn ban, which prohibits the open burning of debris, campfires and even charcoal and wood-fire grilling. Counties affected by the ban include Cheatham, Dickson, Maury, Rutherford, Sumner, Williamson and Wilson Counties.
