Updates on EPB and North Georgia power outages

EPB reported its crews worked throughout the night to restore power to another 4,000 homes and businesses. Currently 5,424 homes and businesses are without power. It also reported there are 716 areas of damage to the electric system and estimated that it may be Monday before all power is restored.

North Georgia EMC reported that approximately 6,500 homes and businesses are still without power. The majority of outages are in Whitfield, Murray, Walker, and Catoosa counties, with scattered outages in Chattooga, Gordon and Floyd counties.

Due to the high temperatures, NGEMC encouraged people to consider temporarily relocating until power has been restored.

NGEMC noted that the outages have been caused by numerous damaged poles spread over a wide area with lines in rural locations being hard to reach. Trees across large spans of power line also affect restoration efforts.
