I-75 pursuit ends with cocaine bust in Brainerd

East Ridge and Chattanooga officers nabbed a fleeing drug suspect after a car and foot chase Friday, authorities said.

East Ridge police spokesman Erik Hopkins said a tip was called in at 5:32 p.m. Friday that a black, four-door Ford F-150 truck was traveling north on I-75 with a load of drugs.

East Ridge officers began looking for the truck and tried to stop it near the Ringgold Road exit, but the driver got off the interstate and fled. East Ridge and Chattanooga officers chased the truck through Brainerd until it came to a dead end on Dee Drive. The driver jumped out and ran, but was caught, Hopkins said in a news release.

Police recovered approximately 10 packages of cocaine and more than $1,000 in cash, he said.

The driver was identified as Dennis Hill, 44, of Atlanta. He is in the Hamilton County Jail on charges of speeding, felony evading, possession of Schedule II narcotics for resale and vandalism, Hopkins wrote.
