Chattanooga police arrest suspect in double shooting

A 22-year-old man is charged with shooting a man to death and wounding a woman at a gas station last week on Brainerd Road.

Chattanooga police arrested Stephen Lebron Hill, of Chattanooga, on charges of criminal homicide, attempted first degree murder, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and unlicensed carrying of a weapon, according to an affidavit of complaint.

His bond is set at $675,000.

On Friday, Gregory Watkins, 29, was gunned down while sitting at a Toyota Corolla at the gas pumps at Delta Express, 3410 Brainerd Road. The gunman fired through the car window unloading on Watkins. A Medical Examiner's report shows that Watkins was shot as many as 12 times on mostly on his left side.

A woman who was with Watkins, Lashonda Gonzalez, was also wounded and treated.

A confidential informant identified the suspect with long dreds as a man known on the street as "Black Magic," according to the affidavit.

When Gonzalez was presented with a photo pack, she identified Hill as the gunman.

Hill, who has a prior drug conviction, has a court date set for June 12 before Hamilton County General Sessions Court Judge Christine Mahn Sell.
