Soddy-Daisy woman charged with murder for hire waives hearing

A 54-year-old Soddy-Daisy woman charged with murder for hire has waived her preliminary hearing.

Police arrested Sharon Anna Zurconett on April 24 after Walter Hogeland, 65, reported that she tried to pay him $300 to kill a woman who was with her "old man."

Gary Cooper told the Times Free Press in April that he was the alleged "old man" and, at the time, lived in a mobile home partially owned by Zurconett.

Cooper declined to share the name of the alleged target of the murder plot, saying the woman was his fiancee.

Zurconett is free on a $10,000 bond. Hamilton County Sessions Court Judge Clarence Shattuck reminded Zurconett that she could not contact any victims or witnesses in the case as a condition of her bond.
